We don’t train your dog. We build your relationship.
At Fairlight Dog Training & Behaviour, we start somewhere most training doesn’t: your relationship with your dog. Because that’s where everything else comes from. Good recall, calm lead walking, a dog that actually wants to listen – none of it is really about drills or commands.
It’s about the two of you understanding each other.
Based on private training fields in Tickenham, Fairlight Dog Training works with puppies, adolescent dogs and companion gundogs (mostly the Labradors and spaniels this corner of North Somerset is full of) using kind, science-based, force-free methods. The dog always comes first here, not a version of the dog you wish you had. The one right in front of you.
So much of what we do is helping guardians and dogs learn to exist happily in a busy dog-filled world – something a lot of lovely dogs were simply never taught. Get the relationship right, and the rest follows.
Sound familiar?
You love your dog to bits but lately, walks have started to feel like hard work. The recall you used to rely on has vanished now they’ve hit adolescence. They pull like a train the moment you’re out the door. Every dog, every person, is impossibly exciting.
Round here, that’s more common than you’d think. There are more dogs about than ever, and most were never shown how to stay calm among them. It’s rarely the dog’s fault, and it’s never something to be ashamed of.
The good news: this is fixable, and it’s often quicker than you’d expect.
With the right help, walks become something you look forward to again. A dog who checks in with you, comes back when called, and can simply enjoy being out in the world alongside you are all totally possible.

Building better relationships
“Georgina is a fantastic trainer and the most inclusive I have ever found.
My adopted boy has a few issues, but we joined the gun dog training. When I struggled with him reacting she steps in to help but also ensures he gets as much out of the training as all the other dogs. She effortlessly adapts the class to suit every dog, which is amazing and not found at most other dog training.
The facilities are also awesome, and you feel able to really focus on what you are there to do. I never come away feeling upset on how reactive my dog has been but instead feel great that he has been included and had a great time.
Thank you so much i really do enjoy the classes and so does Harri “
Your dog’s own private training ground
Most dog training happens in a car park, a village hall, or a field full of distractions you can’t control. Fairlight is different, here we have private, secure fields with the space and the calm to let your dog actually learn.
A dedicated fun field with a sensory area to explore, play and build confidence at their own pace
Lavender planting for dogs who find the world a bit much which is naturally calming, right where they need it
A gundog training field with the grass cut into lanes, so dogs and owners can see the straight lines they’re working in
A scurry course for building drive and focus, the fun way
An all-weather shelter, so a drop of rain never stops play
Meet George
There’s a genuine person behind Fairlight Dog Training, not someone who decided to become a dog trainer overnight.
It started with Max, my rescue lurcher, and a behaviour problem I didn’t understand but was determined to help him through. That set me off to study, qualify, and build a way of working that puts the dog first, every time.
Ten years on, the words my clients use most are knowledgeable, kind, and – the one that matters most to me – non-judgemental.
Because we’ve all had the difficult days. You’re here trying to make life better for your dog, and there’s nothing better than that.
